Bobble Heart Pattern


So I'm finally sharing my bobble heart pattern! :)

I used a 4 mm/G/6 crochet hook.
The yarn pictured above (awful photo but it's the only one i have right now) was a UK baby DK weight in baby pink.
You can use any yarn and hook size, but i would recommend DK and Aran personally as I'm not sure how well the bobbles will 'stick' out with lighter yarn's.


I will be using UK crochet terms throughout, I will try and make a US version at a later date.
Crochet terms used are as follows
sts - stitches
ch - chain:
dc - double crochet
tr - treble crochet
MB - make bobble
F/O - fasten off

MB = make 4 open tr in same stitch leaving 5 loops on hook, draw yarn through all 5 loops. So in the MB stitch you will do as follows, yarn over, hook into next stitch, yarn over (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through two loops leaving 2 loops on hook, yarn over, hook into same stitch, yarn over pull through two loops, 3 loops on hook, continue as above till you have 5 loops on hook after the last open treble and then yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on hook. One bobble complete!

This pattern makes a square roughly 6 x 6 depending on yarn and hook size and of course how you crochet, your's may be bigger or smaller.

So to start ch 28,
Row 1 - dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in each stitch across to end, ch 1, turn. (27 dc) ch 1 does not count as 1st dc here or throughout)
Row 2 - dc across till end, ch 1, turn (27 dc)
Rows 3 -6 - Repeat Row 2. (27 dc)
Row 7 - 1 dc into next 13 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 13 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 8 - Repeat row 2.
Row 9 - 1 dc into next 11 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 3 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 11 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 10 - Repeat row 2.
Row 11 - 1 dc into next 9 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 7 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 9 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 12 - Repeat row 2.
Row 13 - 1 dc into next 7 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 11 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 7 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 14 - Repeat row 2.
Row 15 - 1 dc into next 5 sts,MB, 1 dc into next 15 sts, MB 1 dc into next 5 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 16 - Repeat row 2.
Row 17 - 1 dc into next 3 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 19 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 3 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 18 - Repeat row 2.
Row 19 - 1 dc into next 2 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 21 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 2 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 20 - Repeat row 2.
Row 21 - 1 dc into next 2 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 21 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 2 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 22 - Repeat row 2.
Row 23 - 1 dc into next 2 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 10 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 10 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 2 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 24 - Repaet row 2.
Row 25 - 1 dc into next 3 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 7 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 3 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 7 sts, MB, 1 dc into next 3 sts, ch 1, turn.
Row 26 - Repeat row 2.
Row 27 - 1 dc into next 5 sts, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc into next 7 sts, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc into next 5 sts, ch 1, turn.
Rows 28 - 32 - Repeat row 2, on row 32 do not ch 1, F/O and weave in ends.

    I love this!! Thank you!! I am just finishing up a baby blanket for my daughter and am thinking I'll make the square to add a little pocket to it for a little toy or place to put her pacifier :)

    You made an extra round of sc. How many did you use at a side. Did you do 27*32*27*32 or everyside 27 sc?

    Love this patten making a bed blanket and making up of loads of different types on crochet stiches and styles and this square will look great on it- great pattern to follow and love the finished product x

    love this pattern but mine turned out much too loose. I used 4mm needle and 8 ply wool. Turned out about 6 inches x 4 inches/ Not sure if I need to use a smaller needle/

    I just finished one, and it turned way too long, like two squares together. What did i do wrong? Was i supposed to do sc between the bubble rows instead of dc (in row 2)?to me that seems like the only way.

      Mine too!!! It looked horrible. Gonna try changing it to sc instead of dc. And tc to dc.. This is the pattern I've been looking for, but my 1st block was horrible..

      It is written as UK terms...DC is Single crochet and TR is a double crochet.

      The pattern is written in UK terms, so If youre in the US, you will be using single crochet’s. To join, I found it easily done by adding a border of US dc around the edges of each square, then attaching them (right sides together) with US sc through the back loop of the top square and the front loop of the bottom square

    Very nice pattern and I am making it for my grandson who will be born soon. I am using very light pastel coloured yarn and the measurements are precise. Please can you share how you joined the squares? Thanks for sharing this awesome pattern....really really cute :-)

    Once finished other projects, going to use this with cancer colours for the bobbles so can be used for a raffle to held with their ride for cancer.

    This pattern is not accurate. A lot of typos. The first mistake is on row 11 with 89 sts in between bobbles. A lot of others as well.
