Star Bobble Square Pattern

This is my star bobble pattern, it was part of a blanket i made specifically for baby/little boys as there are tons of blankets for girls pattern wise but not so much for boys, so a star was born ;)

I used Stylecraft special DK in Saffron for the star above
4mm/G/6 Hook

Although you could use any yarn though as I said on the heart pattern I think the bobbles look better in thicker yarns.

Ok on with the pattern.

MB = make 4 open tr in same stitch leaving 5 loops on hook, draw yarn through all 5 loops. So in the MB stitch you will do as follows, yarn over, hook into next stitch, yarn over (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through two loops leaving 2 loops on hook, yarn over, hook into same stitch, yarn over pull through two loops, 3 loops on hook, continue as above till you have 5 loops on hook after the last open treble and then yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on hook. One bobble complete!

Note: I'm using UK crochet terms throughout, but as it is only two types of stitches it is easy to switch to US terms as follows
UK dc - US sc
UK tr - US dc


Chain 28

Row 1: dc in 2nd chain from hook, dc across, chain 1, turn. (27 dc)

Row 2: dc across, chain 1, turn (27 dc)

Row 3: dc in next 3 stitches, MB, dc in next 19 stitches, MB, dc in next 3 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 4: dc across, chain 1, turn. (27 dc)

Row 5: dc in next 4 stitches, MB, dc in next 2 stitches, MB, dc in next 11 stitches, MB, dc in next 2 stitches, MB, dc in next 4 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 6: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 7: dc in next 5 stitches, MB, dc in next 4 stitches, MB, dc in next 5 stitches, MB, dc in next 4 stitches, MB, dc in next 5 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 8: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 9: dc in next 6 stitches,MB, dc in next 6 stitches, MB, dc in next 6 stitches, MB, dc in next 6 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 10: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 11: dc in next 7 stitches, MB, dc in next 11 stitches, MB, dc in next 7 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 12: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 13: dc in next 8 stitches, MB, dc in next 9 stitches, MB, dc in next 8 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 14: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 15: dc in next 6 stitches, MB, dc in next 13 stitches, MB, dc in next 6 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 16: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 17: dc in next 4 stitches, MB, dc in next 17 stitches, MB, dc in next 4 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 18: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 19: dc in next 2 stitches, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, dc in next 5 stitches, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, 1 dc, MB, dc in next 2 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 20: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 21: dc in next 11 stitches, MB, dc in next 3 stitches, MB, dc in next 11 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 22: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 23: dc in next 12 stitches, MB, 1 dc, MB, dc in next 12 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 24: Repeat row 4. (27 dc)

Row 25: dc in next 13 stitches, MB, dc in next 13 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Row 26 - 27: Repeat row 4, at the end of row 27 do not chain 1, fasten off.
